LIFT NETWORK:
One triple chairlift, four double chairlifts (including the two longest in North Carolina), and
three surface lifts make up Sugar’s lift network. This allows the transport of a possible 8,800
people up the mountain each hour. Sugar Mountain Resort is constantly upgrading the lift system
to make your lift ride more enjoyable.
TRAIL SYSTEM:
Twenty slopes and trails spread over 115 skiable acres provide for all levels of skiing and
snowboarding. Beginners can enjoy the Magic Carpet area, Easy Street, and Lower Flying Mile,
while the experts can challenge Tom Terrific, Boulder Dash, and Whoopdedoo. For those who just
want to cruise the open slopes, try Big Red...Our best kept secret! With 40% novice, 40%
intermediate, and 20% expert, there is terrain for all abilities.
TUBING:
Looking for something different? Try tubing! Located on the Sugar Mountain Golf Course; our
700 ft tubing runs have their own lifts, snowmaking, lights for night tubing and are groomed
regularly. Sessions are just under two hours long with the first session starting at 10:00am.
ICE SKATING:
10,000 square foot refrigerated outdoor ice skating rink. Skate sessions are 1 3/4 hours long
and are available at 10:00am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm, 4:00pm, 6:00pm, and 8:00pm. Four-hundred pairs
of rental ice skates are available. Figure skate sizes include youth 7-4 and adult 5-13. Hockey
skate sizes include youth 4 and adult 5-14. Please call for special session bookings. The ice
rink is located next to the Dave Nixon Pro Shop adjacent to parking lot D.
GROOMING:
At Sugar Mountain, whatever the weather dictates our groomers strive to provide the best possible
slope conditions. In addition to our regular snowcat fleet, Sugar's winch cat specializes in
carefully preparing the terrain park, the black diamond and double black diamond slopes.
SNOWMAKING:
A priority at Sugar! Great conditions are what keep you coming back year after year. Our extensive
snowmaking system is continuously updated with the industry's newest technology. It covers 100%
of the skiable terrain and is complimented by the area's average annual natural snowfall of 70 inches.
EASY ACCESS:
With both the Base Lodge and parking on the same level as the main highway, Sugar is one of the
easiest ski areas to reach in the Southeast. This is especially nice when the weather makes
driving difficult but the snow conditions great. Driving directions available at

BASE LODGE:
At Sugar Mountain nearly everything is conveniently located under one roof in the Base Lodge.
Ticket sales, equipment rentals, cafeterias, The Last Run Lounge, and the sports shop are all
located here. In addition, there is group sales, locker rooms and the Candy Shop.
RENTAL DEPARTMENT:
The Rental Department at Sugar contains over 3,000 complete sets of ski and snowboard equipment.
Skiboards and helmets are also available. If your personal equipment needs tuning, drop them off
at the Repair Shop. Remember, if you rent from Sugar you will not have to transport your equipment,
and any necessary adjustments can be easily handled.
SKI & SNOWBOARD SCHOOL:
The Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and the American Association of Snowboard
Instructors (AASI) member school uses the American Teaching System and offers both group and
private lessons daily. Any level of skier or boarder can benefit from lessons. Our school strives
to make learning fun and easy. Sugar offers some of the most friendly teaching terrain in the
Southeast.
SNOWBOARDING:
Riders are welcome at Sugar with both snowboard rentals and lessons available. Test your skill
on one of the many hits in Sugar's Terrain Park. If the tabletop doesn't challenge you perhaps
the spine, 1/4 pipe or railslide may. Fun & challenging events are held in the park throughout
the season.
FOR CHILDREN:
Sugar not only offers special rates for children 11 & under, but also has the Sugar Bear Ski
School in the Children’s Learning Center for skiers age 5 through 10. The program includes lift
ticket, rental equipment, lessons, lunch, supervision, and lots of fun. Children ages 7 through
14 learn to snowboard in our Polar Bear Snowboard School. This program also includes lift ticket,
rental equipment, lessons, lunch and supervision. For the young non-skiers, daycare is available.
GROUP SALES:
From Scout troops and church groups to clubs and reunions, we can accommodate you! Party’s of 15
or more receive discounts and special perks. Trip leaders enjoy the ease and convenience of the
check-in process. If you’re a bus driver you’ll love our easy access and special up-close parking.

EVENING ACTIVITIES:
Whether it’s the stars above or the convenience of being able to play after work, many take
advantage of Sugar’s night activities. One hundred lighted acres are open seven nights a week.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Lodging on and around Sugar Mountain range from hotel/motel type rooms and condos to chalets and
homes. On-slope or off, for yourself or a group, we have what you need on Sugar Mountain. For a

THE LAST RUN LODGE:
The perfect place for adults to relax after a session on the slopes. Enjoy your favorite beverage
while viewing the slopes through the lounge’s large picture windows, listening to music, watching
TV, or sitting in front of the fireplace. Sandwiches and light hors d’oeuvres are also available
in the lounge. A valid photo ID is required for serving. Remember, "Know When To Say When."
SUGAR MOUNTAIN SPORTS SHOP:
The Sports Shop, located in the Base Lodge, offers the latest in winter clothing and accessories.
Among many other things, you’ll find outer wear from Burton, Obermeyer, Spyder and eyewear from
Scott, Uvex, and Carrera. We also offer Reusch gloves to keep your hands toasty warm. Unique
specialty items like Hadley Pottery can only be found locally in the Sugar Mountain Sports Shop.
And a winter destination Sports Shop isn’t complete without an extensive line of T shirts and souvenirs.
SUGAR MOUNTAIN SPORTS SHOP ANNEX:
While waiting for your tubing or ice skating session, check out our gift and apparel shop for
unique Sugar Mountain souvenirs or last minute items such as gloves, ear or neck warmers, hats,
and much more! The Annex is located in the Dave Nixon Pro Shop between the Tubing Park and Ice
Skating rink.
CAFETERIAS:
Sugar Mountain’s cafeteria is open daily from 8am to 10pm. On busy days the third floor cafeteria
is open and when weather permits, hamburgers are grilled on the slopeside deck. If it's a quick
snack you're looking for, the Candy Shop on the lower level might be the stop for you.
SNOWSHOEING:
Looking for a unique adventure? Try showshoeing! Our guides take full advantage of the areas
diverse terrain with tours winding you through pristine snow-covered forests, up challenging hills
and across breathtakingly beautiful open fields.
