KID'S SAFETY AWARENESS POSTER CONTEST |
What Is It?
In an effort to increase awareness and skier/snowboarder safety, Sugar Mountain Resort is participating
in the National Ski Area Association's (NSAA) 2006-2007 Kids Safety Awareness Poster Contest. The
contest is designed for 4th , 5th and 6th graders, but is open to all elementary aged children.
The poster contest was developed by the NSAA as part of their Heads-Up Campaign; an ongoing safety
awareness program. Its mission is "to promote skiing safety awareness and education to elementary
school children, to support classroom curriculum related to sports, health and safety and to give kids
a chance to have fun and be creative while learning about slope safety." We believe that this
contest will not only promote safety, but also the positive values of recreation. It will also serve
as a tool to strengthen our bond with the community.
Prizes for winning entries include: 2007-2008 Season Pass (1st place), Family lesson & Lift Tickets
(2nd place), a day in the Sugar Bear or Polar Bear children's programs (3rd place), and a Group Lesson
Coupon (best entry from each school). Alpine Ski Center of Banner Elk will be providing a free rental
coupon to each child who submits a poster, and a gift certificate to each school that participates.
Winning entries will be sent to the national competition and a chance for recognition in SKI magazine.
Winning posters will also be displayed in the Sugar Mountain Resort Base Lodge.
Every elementary aged child is welcome to participate and does not necessarily have to be a member of
a participating school. For more information on the contest, its rules and regulations, or to receive
an entry form, please call Sugar Mountain at 828-898-4521 or 1-800-SUGARMT.
