Sugar Mountain Ski Resort Energizes its Mountain Bike Park
Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, North Carolina. Thursday, March 1, 2018 – As soon as the snow melts Sugar Mountain Resort’s decades old gravity and cross-country mountain biking and hiking trail system will begin to receive a much anticipated expansion.
PJ Noto, former Lees McRae College mountain bike coach and trail construction specialist, will lead the effort to enlarge, widen, and upgrade Sugar Mountain Resort’s current mountain bike park. Building out expert terrain to offer beginner and intermediate line option choices from the summit to the base, adding features like rollers, small dips, and table tops are just a few of the compliments slated for the summer season.
Opening day is Saturday, June 30.
Sugar Mountain Resort first introduced recreational and competitive mountain biking to the North Carolina High Country in 1993. Over the years the trail system has been altered and expanded and now roams throughout the Village of Sugar Mountain. Events like the NORBA National Mountain Bike Championships Series which brought up to 1,200 competitors from around the world to the area, and other regional NORBA competitions injected a valuable economic impact and provided another alternative source of fun for outdoor enthusiasts.
